The shooting took place during the early morning on Friday, March 6, on Carrie Street in Bridgeport, said Bridgeport Police Capt. Brian Fitzgerald.
The two victims, ages 21 and 23, were hit by gunfire while seated in the vehicle, a third passenger, who was not injured, drove the car away from the area while still seated in the passenger seat, Fitzgerald said.
While attempting to drive from the passenger seat, the passenger/driver was involved in a crash at Connecticut Avenue and Hollister Street, he said.
The passenger remained at the scene and both shooting victims were transported to Bridgeport Hospital by medics.
The 21-year-old is not critical. The 23-year-old was immediately taken to surgery and his condition is unknown at this time, Fitzgerald said.
Detectives are processing crime scenes at both locations, reviewing video of the area and speaking to a witness.
Patrol officers in the area engaged another vehicle believed to be responsible for the shooting, but lost sight of the vehicle on I-95 at Exit 26, Fitzgerald said.
